Mary Rose Museum Visit

Very early on Monday 8th September, Class 5 boarded a bus for a long journey to the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth. After a long drive we arrived safely at the Mary Rose Museum, ready for the busy day ahead!

After being warmly welcomed to the museum, we started the day with a workshop called "Henry's Heroes" - a workshop all about the different lives of crew and officers on board the Mary Rose.

All of the children had a great time trying on the clothes of different members of the crew and handling many interesting replica objects.

After lunch, we all went into the museum...where we were welcomed by Henry VIII himself!!

Everybody enjoyed looking around the museum and were amazed by the thousands of objects recovered from the seabed....as well as the incredible remains of the Mary Rose herself!

To end the day all of the children took part in another workshop called "The Gun Drill", learning how to clean and prepare the cannons ready for firing. They were all split into gun teams and had great fun 'firing' the cannons!

Finally, spent out, tired but very happy, everybody agreed it had been a great day in Portsmouth!

It was only as we left the Historic Dockyard did we realise how they had prepared for our visit......!!

A great start to Year 6

Welcome to Year 6 blog. It has been a busy start to the year. The children have settled down and are very busy in the classroom. The children created their own adverts for the 'PERFECT PREFECT' and presented their ideas in front of the class.

On Tuesday 9th September Class 6 had their trip to Imperial War Museum. It was a great day out, so many artefacts to see. The workshop was so informative and the exhibits were fantastic.

In PE the children are developing their skills in gymnastics. We practiced forward rolls, cart wheels, jumping and turning. As a class we created a sequence to music. It was a very interesting lesson.
