Visit of the FireFighters

On Monday 17th June, Class 5 had a visit from the local firefighters from Cowbridge Station. They showed the class an interesting film showing how quickly fire can take hold in a bedroom......after approximately 2 minutes, the whole bedroom was destroyed! We discussed the safest things to do in a fire and how we should respond if a fire happened at home.

As the class had listened and answered the firefighter's questions so well, we went outside to see the fire engine. We looked at the special clothes worn by the firefighters, used the thermal imaging camera, looked at how all of the equipment is stored and some were even lucky enough to use the hose.....washing Mrs. Jones' car in the process!

Although the children thoroughly enjoyed looking at everything on the fire engine and had great fun, they also remembered the important rules they had learned during the morning.Class 5 really enjoyed the visit so a HUGE Pendoylan "thank you" to the fire fighters of Cowbridge Fire Station!

Enjoy the photos they've sent back to school and check back for more updates over the next few days.
